Week 1 COVID19.
Forced time off the mat is certainly not fun, but it is a period in which we can focus on the things we DO have control over.
Let's dive right in, what is it that you CAN do during this time of quarantine.
1. Solo movement exercises:
The beauty of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is that it is a sport where you don't have to be athletic at all, anyone can do it. With sport-specific ground movements and ukemi you can go a long way. With these techniques you learn to move fluidly, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu on the ground, and with ukemi you learn how to fall from standing without injuring yourself. If you click on the link below, you will receive a FREE movement system for your BJJ skills.

I note here that you do not get these from BJJ Amersfoort but from bjjfanatics.com and John Danaher. A wonderful gesture and it shows the true strength of our Jiu-Jitsu community.
Below is a video with the basics of Ukemi for your BJJ.

2. Physical training:
This can be anything you feel good about, there is no right way, over the past few years I have tried several methods.
Examples: Crossfit, Powerlifting, Olympic Weightlifting, Gymnastics, Kettlebell sport, Ido Portal (Movement training) Fighting Monkey, Ross Enamait, and more than ten different forms of Yoga.
Currently, it's custom work, taking the best from every method I've tried over the years and incorporating them into my daily training routines specifically for my Jiu-Jitsu.
Feel for yourself what works for you and what doesn't. This will of course vary per individual and the goals they wish to achieve.
Regarding physical training in the Covid-19 situation, at the moment it is mainly training on gymnastic rings, kettlebells and running training. Daily on Instagram stories!
3. BJJ study:
The Jiu-Jitsu mat may be out of sight, but not out of mind! Most of us have an unprecedented passion for the sport. It is certainly no punishment, with all the extra time you now have, to dive into the YouTube archive to look up and study some BJJ classics. A few favorites from BJJ Amersfoort.
