The past two weekends I traveled to Amsterdam to attend seminars by the grandson of the late Helio Gracie and son of the legendary Rickson Gracie
Kron Gracie is a multiple BJJ world champion and was among the absolute world elite in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and has now made the transition to the largest MMA organization, the UFC
Kron Gracie (31) is a multiple BJJ world champion and a UFC fighter. What makes him so special? He emphasizes a deeper meaning of the principles of Jiu-Jitsu. His insight into matters such as base, timing, connection, weight distribution, and leverage are of a very high level. Kron is known in the BJJ community for having a very aggressive Jiu-Jitsu style, what does that mean? That Kron is an aggressive person? On the contrary, he is calmness itself and has more the mindset of a Yogi/Samurai. What it means is that he is constantly looking for ways to win the match by submission (tap out) and is not interested in points or a referee's decision. The message of the seminar was clear: the basics of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu are very complex and you can never have enough of them. For me, it wasn't the first time I got to train with Kron. I have traveled to Los Angeles multiple times to train BJJ with both Kron and his father Rickson Gracie. Of course, I found it fantastic that it was so close now. For the students of BJJ Amersfoort, it was their first time and they had a valuable learning experience, now to implement the lesson material as quickly as possible into our study of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu.
Everything in life goes back to the basics. -Kron Gracie-
