I never forgot my first BJJ class.
What preceded it?
1. I saw a YouTube video of Rickson and Royce Gracie
2: Googled Gracie Jiu-Jitsu + sent an email to (now) my teacher Raoul Hiwat of Amsterdam BJJ
3: Healthy tension because you don't know what to expect
How did it go?
1. Received well and friendly
2. Had to tap many times!
3. Had a lot of fun in class.
Why did I come back?
I realized that I could be dominated on the street by men and women much lighter than me. In a street confrontation, I would be defenseless. What I also realized was that despite my martial arts experience and strength training, something was still missing from my arsenal.
Three months later, I flew to Los Angeles to train with Rickson and Kron Gracie. Since that first trial class, I haven't been knocked off the mat. My teacher encouraged me to establish Amersfoort BJJ.
In this new podcast of about 30 minutes, you will hear more about this + these topics will be covered!

"Jiu jitsu and martial arts do not build character, they reveal it. We are all born with unmeasurable courage and determination, but it is as we go through the trials of rigorous training that we rediscover those gifts."
