I was recently a guest on the 'pain-free movement' podcast and explained the importance of martial arts (Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu), both for self-defense and as part of children's upbringing. Fighting is inextricably linked to being human and human functioning.
The beauty of BJJ is that it teaches you to control and not immediately resort to striking.
How does that work exactly for children and what do they gain from Jiu-Jitsu?
An important part of the process where behavioral change is initiated is observing the consequences that certain behavior brings, striking in this case.
However, not all behavior is imitated. Behavior can only be changed if the individual has full control over a situation and if they can achieve certain outcomes.
What we at BJJ Amersfoort try to achieve with children and adults is to gain control over these kinds of situations and to do the right thing.
Unfortunately, the world is not perfect, violence is a part of it.
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a synonym and tool for life.
It is literally falling and getting up, that is life too.
Life is hard enough, you don't need the hassle of conflicts for yourself and your children.
You will understand what it can do for you after just one class.
