Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competitions are a fantastic way to see where you currently stand in your own BJJ career. The BJJ Amersfoort team therefore traveled to Rotterdam last weekend to test their Jiu-Jitsu skills. Amersfoort BJJ students Jelle, Kevin Tariq, Ruben, and Pieter showed that it is possible, with just a few months of training, to apply the concepts and principles of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu in practice, under high resistance. They managed to secure two gold medals (Kevin Tariq, Ruben) and a bronze BJJ medal (Jelle). Pieter narrowly missed out with a fourth place but went home with a valuable learning experience!
Participating in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu tournaments is not mandatory, but it is advisable to do it once, to test how you perform under pressure and resistance. We at BJJ Amersfoort can guide you if you feel mentally and physically ready for it. You also don't have to worry about age and weight, as there are different age divisions and weight classes.

JiuJitsu puts you completely in the moment, where you must have a complete focus on finding a solution to the problem. This trains the mind to build that focus, to increase your awareness, your capacity to solve problems.
